The MLYB is one of the most important metallogenic belts in China. It is richly endowed with a wide variety of ore deposits, including magnetite-apatite, porphyry Cu-Au, skarn and replacement Pb-Zn, and W deposits, and new discoveries are made regularly. The deposits are mainly confined to discrete time intervals in the Cretaceous, associated with widespread volcanism and plutonism.

The belt occurs at the margin between the South China and North China cratons, and the tectonic setting remains controversial. The conference will review deposits of the MLYB and will visit examples of major deposit types. Technical presentations will be given at Hefei University of Technology, Hefei, which is located 2 hours drive on major highways from the belt.
